Deborah Sorgi has
a deep love for learning. Her professional goal is to remain challenged
by her work and to consistently be in a position to gain new knowledge.
"I always try to position myself in situations where I can learn more,"
states Ms. Sorgi, Vice President of Sales for a new division of an educational
publisher. "I’ve been blessed with a successful career where I am constantly
challenged. And challenge is what motivates me."
With over twenty years
of experience in K–12 educational technology and new media, Ms. Sorgi
recently accepted a position with an interactive start-up within a large
publishing group. "This is an exciting time to be in education," she states.
"We’ve assembled top people for this new division. We’re using the pinnacle
of technology and are creating a high quality product. I jumped at the
opportunity to work with this group."
SPG has helped Ms.
Sorgi make several career moves over the years. "Dolores and I go
way back. In fact, I think of her more as a friend than a recruiter,"
she says. Her
placements through SPG have been so successful that she now works with
the group to hire her staff. At one point, Ms. Sorgi was in a position
to completely rebuild her sales and customer service organization and
she called on another SPG recruiter, Loretta, to help her build the team. "I’ve
had great experiences working with SPG," she says, "I can count on them
to come through with great prospects for me."
With a thirty-five
minute flight to the office several days a week and a busy schedule on
the road with a national sales force, Ms. Sorgi finds relaxation on the
golf course. "It’s great to relieve the stress by going to an open environment
and totally focusing on that ball," she states. Other
personal goals include learning to play the piano and attending law school
with a concentration in international law. "Right now I move around too
much to go to school," she says, stating that she would enjoy being a
professional student. "I absolutely love learning and will continue doing
so for both personal and professional growth."
