An E-Commerce Visionary
Brian Gilman’s mission
is to cultivate vision. His present role as a research analyst with a
Web-based financial information aggregator has him looking for ecommerce
and Internet trends in the Asia Pacific region. He makes sense of all
the apples-to-oranges information being disseminated by research houses
and news organizations and creates a unified study of the businesses,
keeping a close watch on new developments. His background as the Director
of Research working on business valuations with a financial consulting
organization is a great foundation for this multinational work.
During his off hours,
Mr. Gilman coaches a winning vision from aspiring swimmers as the coach
of a year-round U.S. swimming team. "I love those kids," he says about
the 4- to 17-year olds he coaches. Many of them go on to the Olympic trials
and other competitions. He’s also a fencing enthusiast, a road-racer and
an admitted "total music freak".
"I’ll go anywhere,
any time to listen to any type of music," he states. "I listen to live
music in any shape, form or fashion." Two years in New Orleans tuned him
in to jazz and blues, and a stint as a radio disc jockey while in college
developed his taste even more. "You name it and I’ll listen to it," Mr.
Gilman enthuses.
His long-term goal
is to start his own company, putting form to his vision from the ground
up. "I’m a true workaholic," he states. "If I’m ever content just shoot
me." This kind of energy won the SPG recruiter over immediately.
Gary knew that he had a special candidate on his hands and worked tirelessly
to place Mr. Gilman in a compelling environment. "I found Gary through
the Web and stayed with him because he was the most open and frank about
all the opportunities…he didn’t steer me wrong," states Mr. Gilman. "I
love what I’m doing, I absolutely adore it."
